I have finished ELA classes and it was a good class and i learned a lot. I think the whole class became mostly aware of the things that are happening in the world and some students will help in the future. This project was one of my favorite projects. In most classes we did not get the opportunities to go on field trips and going on field trips was one of the best things that happen in our class. I have presented my project and I wish I would have done a project just like the one we did.
I would like to thank Mr Toth and and Mrs Smolka for helping us out. I would like to say may God bless you all.

The Non-government organization that I chose “care” is trying to develop the idea that the most effective way to end poverty in the poorest countries is to empower women.
Non-government organizations vary in deferent ways. Most of them have the goals to help with the millennium development goals. Care is one of those Non-governments that help out with the millennium development goals. Care works in more than 70 countries and their main focus is on women and girls. Care believes that the most effective way to end poverty in the poorest countries is to empower women.
If the women or girls are empowered, then the entire family will begin to prosper. Women are the one who are mostly affected by poverty. So if the women are empowered that means the whole family will not be affected. Women are the one who always cook, clean; take care of children and etc. so if the women are empowered they will have the knowledge of how to cook health food, how to give the proper education to their children and how to have proper sanitation. Most of the women that got empowered are living free of poverty and passing that knowledge to their children.
Most other economies suffer because women are not empowered. If men are the only ones who have to give ideas, then most of the potential from women is wasted or lost. Other women might have great ideas on how they can improve their economy and if they are not empowered they will not be able to share those ideas with everybody. The potential that’s lost end up making women think that they are not as good as men, affecting the whole family. As a result the economy suffers from lack of enough ideas.
With enough education, women have the power to change their world. Every time a girl is educated that means that, her children are also educated. In the future, with enough education a girl will be able to a give birth to a healthy child and pass the same knowledge to her children. Families in developing countries that do not experience poverty are families with empowered women who have good education. Every time a girl goes to school her future income adds up to 20%. As a result women have the power to change their world.
Therefore Care’s idea of empowering women to end poverty is the most effective one. Care also needs people’s help to them empower women. This idea also solves the goal of gender equality, universal education, poverty, child mortality, HIV AIDS and many more. I suggest that many other non-government organizations use the same idea as Care.

On April 4Th I went to the mustard seed. Its an organization that helps the people with a place to live and with food. Me and other students from my school went to the mustard seed to make sandwich. We had to wait for a little while. We started by parking sandwiches into a pack with snacks. Then we had to make sandwiches. We made a lot of sandwiches and we also had to pack them again. After we were done making the sandwiches we went home because we had ran out of time because our instructor had to go home. It was fun day at the mustard seeds and it was also good to know that I was making sandwiches for the good of other people.

Some of the movies that I watched that concerned with the goals of the millennium goal is hotel Rwanda, Blood diamond and Earth 2100. This are the movies that show what is going on in the world that we need to solve by 2015(millennium development goals). This movies will raise awareness to other people that they might be able to learn about what is going on in the world. People who are not helping are not helping because they do not care but because they have no idea that somethings like this are happening in the world. So I really think the movies will help fulfill that role of raising awareness. I would also recommend to people that they watch this movies because they will touch your heart.

The final third was about gender equality. Gender equality is one of the most important goals because it influences the other goals. Woman are the most affected because they are not treated the same as the guys. Women have the same species and same equality as men so they need to work together and that's how everything might be able to be solved. Gender equality was not just about women its also about men being able to be equal with women. This is some of the things I learned from the research for the presentation. The presentation was supposed to raise awareness to other people but it also raised awareness to me. I was able to complete my project well even though I had problems with the power point. I had used Microsoft 2010 and some of the designs were not compatible with the Microsoft 2007, so my presentation did not have as much good animation as i had ought to put.
journal 16th
The second third of the presentation was about universal education. This is also one of the major goals that must be fulfilled because most people die because of their lack of knowledge. I think the reason for universal education is to educate everyone so that they will know how to survive. Children who do not go to school will end up in poverty because they will not have the education of getting out of poverty. I researched and found out that the most effective way to increase universal education is for the government to build schools and give children the right to go to school. That's why people must contact the UN and government for them to increase universal education.
journal 15th
The first third of the project was about world hunger and poverty. I learned more from doing the research because I did not know that, they were that many people(25000) who were dying everyday because of hunger and poverty. This was not the result of laziness, but they work very had every day just to earn a little money that's used up before they even pay for important matters(they live on less than $2.50). I learned that poverty is the main cause of hunger and other major flaws of the world. I was able to finish the first third of the presentation and I still have to do universal education and gender equality.
journal 14th
I started doing my presentation and it had three goals included because I thought that its better to raise awareness about three thing, better than one. Choosing three goals was mostly an idea I got from the book I was reading "let my people go". The people from the book were experiencing poverty because their food was burned down. They were also experiencing gender equality because all the women were raped by the family they worked for. That also included lack of education because the children were to busy working they were not allowed in school. I researched many websites to find the information about the project. The project is still being completed.

I read the last quarter of the book let my people go. This time cal Bombay had finished freeing the two hundred and forty nine woman and children. He interviewed the people who were freed from slavery about the what they did and how they were treated. Most of the stories were heart breaking. Cal R. Bombay told the slaves about how they were not freed by him but by Jesus. The Canadian reporter who was with him said he was doing the same thing as the Islamic who were forcing the people into their religion, but he said he was just doing his job as a pastor. He returned back to Canada and the Sudan people who were in Canada started to mail him death threats but he never gave up with raising awareness. That was the end of the book.

This time I read the third quarter of the book. cal Bombay was back in Sudan and this time he went with a plane full of food aide. While on his way to go and free more people from slavery, he met the generals of the SPLA (Sudan people's liberation army). The generals talked about how they were going from village to village fighting rebels. cal Bombay had to walk for miles just to arrive were they would free slaves. Two hundred and forty nine women. They had a little trouble paying for the slaves because they seemed to not know the real number of the people who they were going to pay for. Once they figured out the number, they bought the people back from slavery and put them into freedom.

I am continuing reading the book, "let my people go". This time I read from page 57 to page 109. The author talks about how he had freed the people from slaves and he was interviewing the feed people about their experiences as slaves. After that he goes back to Canada to raise awareness. The media from Canada tried to change the subject into the fact that the reason he says Islams are making people into slaves, was because it was a religion matter than a slavery matter. Soon after he had raised more money he went back to Sudan to help and free other slaves. This was the second quarter of the book.
journal 10th
I began reading the book "let my people go" and I read the first 57 pages. It talks about how Cal R. Bombay a christian missionary who has worked in Africa for 17 years and now he had gone to Sudan. He had raised money to buy people who were sold as slaves. He and other missionaries went with food and medicine to Sudan. They entered a forbidden zone where you can get shot, the only thing he did was pray for his safety. He walked for miles and saw villages that looked like they had been destroyed by soldiers. They finally arrived and and they bought three hundred and nineteen slaves and they freed them all. This was the first quarter of the book and I am still going on.

I had sent a message to the UN workers. It asked about the current events and how they affected the goals. I sent the email to five people and only one of that got replied was "Thanks for your interest in the Millennium Development Goals. For the latest progress on the Goals, please see the MDG Report 2009 (this year's report will be coming out in June). It gives an overview of progress on each goal and each target, globally and regionally: http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/pdf/MDG_Report_2009_ENG.pdf
Regarding Haiti and other countries struck by disaster, they, of course, take a hit in terms of progress towards the MDGs. As an example of how the UN helps countries get back on track, you can read UNDP's "Empowering Haiti to Build a Better Future": http://www.undp.org/haiti/doc/Haiti-mainbrochureE-final-rev-sm.pdf
For more information, please visit the UN website: http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals
If you want to get engaged, take a look at what the Millennium Campaign is doing: http://www.endpoverty2015.org/." This was the only email that i got replied and the other have not been replied me yet. The only information i got was the information that i had read on the website.

I wanted to find out more of the millennium development goals. So I went to the Un's website to find out more. This time i did not read the information, I saw names and emails on the website that's for people you can email to and i emailed five of the people. This is the email that i send "what is the status of the millennium development goals in the past 05 years. with only five years left are the goals going to be fulfilled by the end of 2015. Haiti and Cuba suffered an extreme earth quake and the affects were terrifying, that also caused people to lose their houses, hospitals, schools and etc, living millions homeless. Did this affect the millennium development goals in any way for those countries and did this incident make it more hard to reach the goal". I am going to wait for the reply of my questions though its been a three days with out replies.
journal 7th
I have been researching about the millennium development goals and I went on the the UN's MDG website, I was looking at how much the world has accomplish for all the goals. I found out that many groups are participating in this project. I also found out that the people and many countries are far from reaching the millennium goals and others will not make it in 2015 because instead of getting better they are getting a whole lot worse. The UN are programing a summit to be done in September. On this summit they plan to alert each other to increase their pace of the goals.

Me and my fellow class mates went to the downtown theater to watch the movie last train home. The movie was about china's mass migrant workers. The movie was really touching because most family in china work everyday with no breaks and the only time when they have a break is in new years eve. That movie focuses on the mass migration of china and the environment in which they work in. It shows how they work hard on products that will be sold in western countries for cheap prices. It also shows how hard the life of a family is for china.

Saturday march the sixth, I had to do my proposal so i went to the public library. This was my first time writing a proposal so i had to search at google to learn how to write a proposal. I had to hurry in my search because for public libraries a person can only go on the computer for two hours. After I was done researching about proposal I started with the introduction. The first two paragraphs were completed excellently. I had wrote the paragraphs on Microsoft 2003. That's when I figured out that, I can not save my work on a public library computer. The H drive could not let me save my work. I had to save all my work on a blogger because I could not find another way.

Monday march the first. I choose to do the project of poverty, world hunger and gender equality. It focuses on making people aware of the three goals from the millennium development goals. I found out that there are already many Non-Government Organizations and Governments who are working in different countries to achieve the goals. Groups like make poverty history, global partnership, war child and etc. This groups show how you can help and how you can get involved. After that i had to choose a book. The book i choose was "let my people go". The book also focuses on the three goals i choose. Its also about the people in Africa, Sudan.
This are the pictures of the millennium development goals project with eight goals to be completed before 2015.

This project is meant to make a difference for the people in the world. The world will reach the millennium goal if everyone helps out. My proposal is meant to achieve the goals of conquering hunger, poverty and the other millennium goals. I will visit many website to follow this project to the end until it’s done. Therefore the people who live in developed countries are the ones that have more opportunities to change the world.
One of my goals is to write a letter to the government of
Saturday
My project will be mainly focused on the goal to end poverty, world hunger and gender equality. In many countries there are experiencing poverty and some are not reaching there millennium goals. There are people who are living without clean water and food. Others are living on a 1$ day. Food continues to cost more than it once was. This is causing people who earn little to live poverty. It is our duty to help this people as a developed country.
